Kasen: Once known only in the underbelly of society, the trade of sorcery was practiced only beneath the surface. Only after the Seitei War 18 years ago, when sorcerers were given shine in the daylight, did their “trade” begin to flourish.

Kasen: It was our organization’s establishment, the Kamunabi, one that once regulated use of sorcery which brought that chaos into order. This organization is powerful yes, but still but a fledgling in its history. The traditional, prestigious sorcery families do not wish to humble themselves in our operations. Even now, we continue to maintain minimal order while having to glare behind our backs against the powerful family clans scattered across this land.

Ichiki: You are not wrong. The overlooking of the “Rakuzaichi” is a prime example of this minimal order. Our reach is quite limited as of right now.

Kasen: If it was possible to bring all the powerful clans of each region under the rule of the Kamunabi, that is what I believe to be ‘true order’.. But such half-hearted efforts would reach nobody. Which is when I realized.. What is required, is “absolute power”.. To be specific, the Enchanted Blades.

Ichiki: Why bring it up now of all times? We already had this debate to a fruitless degree right after the war’s ending. The Enchanted Blade Shinuchi once committed the great sin we know call ‘The Malediction’…

Kasen: What caused the great sin was not the Shinuchi, but the mere will of the Sword Saint himself. If we execute the Sword Saint, we can find a new, more appropriate wielder for it. This time, being able to utilize its powers.

Ichiki: It is the sin of the saint, yet the blade is equally as responsible, for it too responded to that call. Rokuhira Kunishige confirmed with us that he has no clue just how full of depth the Enchanted Blades really are. The possibility of a second Malediction.. Since you can’t rule out that possibility, there is not even an option to consider in putting that blade back to use.

Ichiki: Which is why we ended up in sealing the Enchanted Blade and instead focusing on an educational front, nurturing the next generation. The road ahead is a long-winded one, but even after we’re gone, this country, these people will build peace through the strengths of one another.

Kasen: You’re right. That, 18 years ago was the consensus and the end of it all for the Kamunabi. But such a future can not be controlled. This world can not do without the Enchanted Blades.

Ichiki: You raise a noble cause, yet you join forces with the ones you attempt to control?

Kasen: Keluarga penyihir kuat seperti Klan Sazanami telah ada di berbagai wilayah sejak dahulu kala.

Kasen: Dahulu hanya dikenal di kalangan bawah masyarakat, perdagangan sihir hanya dipraktikkan di bawah permukaan. Baru setelah Perang Seitei 18 tahun yang lalu, ketika para penyihir diberi kesempatan bersinar di siang hari, “perdagangan” mereka mulai berkembang.

Kasen: Organisasi kami, Kamunabi, yang pernah mengatur penggunaan sihir, yang menertibkan kekacauan itu. Organisasi ini memang kuat, tetapi masih baru dalam sejarahnya. Keluarga penyihir tradisional yang bergengsi tidak ingin merendahkan diri dalam operasi kami. Bahkan sekarang, kami terus menjaga ketertiban minimal sementara harus melotot di belakang punggung kami terhadap klan keluarga kuat yang tersebar di seluruh negeri ini.

Ichiki: Kau tidak salah. Pengabaian “Rakuzaichi” adalah contoh utama dari tatanan minimal ini. Jangkauan kita cukup terbatas saat ini.

Kasen: Jika memungkinkan untuk membawa semua klan kuat di setiap wilayah di bawah kekuasaan Kamunabi, itulah yang kuyakini sebagai ‘tatanan sejati’. Tapi upaya setengah hati seperti itu tidak akan mencapai siapa pun. Saat itulah aku menyadari.. Yang dibutuhkan adalah “kekuatan absolut”.. Lebih tepatnya, Katana Sihir.

Ichiki: Kenapa membahasnya sekarang? Kita sudah berdebat sampai pada taraf yang sia-sia setelah perang berakhir. Katana Sihir Shinuchi pernah melakukan dosa besar yang kita kenal sebagai ‘Malaikat’…

Kasen: Penyebab dosa besar itu bukanlah Shinuchi, melainkan kehendak Sword Saint itu sendiri. Jika kita mengeksekusi Sword Saint, kita bisa menemukan pengguna baru yang lebih tepat. Kali ini, kita bisa memanfaatkan kekuatannya.

Ichiki: Itu adalah dosa seorang Saint, namun pedang itu juga sama bertanggung jawabnya, karena ia juga menanggapi panggilan itu. Rokuhira Kunishige mengonfirmasi kepada kami bahwa ia tidak tahu seberapa dalam sebenarnya Katana Sihir itu. Kemungkinan Kutukan kedua.. Karena kau tidak bisa mengesampingkan kemungkinan itu, bahkan tidak ada pilihan untuk mempertimbangkan penggunaan kembali pedang itu.

Ichiki: Itulah sebabnya kami akhirnya menyegel Katana Sihir dan alih-alih berfokus pada bidang pendidikan, membina generasi berikutnya. Jalan di depan memang panjang, tetapi bahkan setelah kami tiada, negara ini, orang-orang ini akan membangun perdamaian melalui kekuatan satu sama lain.

Kasen: Kau benar. Itu, 18 tahun yang lalu, adalah konsensus dan akhir dari segalanya bagi Kamunabi. Tapi masa depan seperti itu tidak bisa dikendalikan. Dunia ini tidak bisa hidup tanpa Katana Sihir.
