The world of One Piece remains filled with secrets, and even after decades, Eiichiro Oda continues to surprise readers with shocking revelations.
One of the latest comes from the SBS section of Volume 113, where Oda indirectly confirmed something fans never expected — Queen is actually Franky’s father.
This revelation alone was enough to ignite a new wave of theories across the fandom. But with Franky’s father now identified, a bigger mystery takes the spotlight: who is his mother?

Among countless speculations online, one particular theory has gained traction — that Franky’s mother might be Gloriosa, the former Empress of Amazon Lily. As wild as this sounds, One Piece history has shown that Oda loves turning crazy theories into reality.
In the SBS for Volume 113, a fan asked Oda point-blank whether Queen and Franky are related. Oda gave a typically playful answer:
“Oh no… they’ve found out! They must’ve noticed that the year Queen’s child was born matches Franky’s birth year! And the year Queen abandoned his child matches the year Tom took Franky in! Readers knowing something characters don’t would be strange… I’ll just bluff my way out of this… N… Nyo they’re… nyot…!!!”
Fans immediately noticed Oda’s stuttering “nyot,” which sounds eerily similar to Gloriosa’s trademark “nyo.” Since Oda rarely includes such quirks without meaning, some believe it’s a deliberate hint toward Franky’s maternal lineage.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Gloriosa and Franky have been linked. In the SBS of One Piece Volume 56, a fan jokingly asked whether Gloriosa had “body modifications like Franky” because of her distinct chin. Oda laughed it off back then — but in hindsight, this gag may have been a subtle clue.
Both characters share similar facial features, particularly their pointed chins. Now that Queen’s connection to Franky is semi-confirmed, that decade-old joke feels far more intentional.

From a timeline perspective, the theory isn’t impossible. Gloriosa lived during the era of Rocks D. Xebec and was once the Pirate Empress herself. Meanwhile, Queen likely left MADS and joined Kaido sometime after the God Valley Incident — about 38 years ago.
Since Franky was born 36 years ago, this two-year gap could have been when Queen and Gloriosa crossed paths. Queen’s younger, more charismatic self and Gloriosa’s world-weary persona could have intersected at sea, creating one of the most unexpected unions in One Piece history.
As One Piece enters its Final Saga, Oda seems intent on closing every lingering mystery. From Sanji’s family in Whole Cake Island to Brook’s past in Elbaf, every Straw Hat’s backstory is being brought to light. That makes Franky’s origins a prime candidate for exploration next.
Among the countless fan theories circulating the One Piece community, the “Gloriosa is Franky’s Mother” theory stands out for how neatly it aligns the timeline, character quirks, and narrative breadcrumbs. Whether Oda plans to confirm it remains unknown — but the possibility alone is enough to stir excitement across the fandom.
