Narration: The Kamunabi Headquarters are enclosed by a barrier that blocks off everything & everyone beyond its registered employees. That robust, large-scale barrier drives its forces from “natural power sources”.. The incredibly intricate array of ‘sorcery circuits’ woven throughout this enormous subterranean structure converts the heat of the earth into spiritual energy, supplying it to the building’s interior.

Narration: Spiritual energy is life energy. Belonging to humans, and gaining its function via. humanity’s will, that is what makes up the constitution of sorcery. The spiritual energy belonging to no one, can not be controlled by anyone. In other words, this immense source of spiritual energy is fundamentally beyond a human’s control: Spiritual energy that has “nowhere to go” will naturally start to dissipate.

???: But that’s where I come in (The Barrier-Keepers)

Narration: The cornerstone of the barrier – The one who sits in the middle is selected once every ten years from the applicants and suitable candidates of many. Once the 10-year-term has been completed, a reward sufficient to live a life of luxury is bestowed for the one who completed his mission:

Narration: After repeating the cycle of Samsara for around four months, the trainee loses several of their organs and reproductive function. The vast, unchanneled spiritual energy is converted into a barrier through the user, as if working like a conduit. The user becomes a being without compare who is capable of enabling the barrier – serving as its core, with six others connected to him at all times for a provided auxiliary when necessary.

Izaru: So you’re saying they’re trying to release the powers of the Shinuchi inside this institution..?

Barrierkeeper: ..So it seems.

Izaru: And the energy I feel above us, are the two Enchanted Blades?

Barrierkeeper: …So it seems.

Izaru: And why the hell haven’t they come down yet?

Barrierkeeper: Our connection seem to have been taken down, which must mean that the barrier is being interfered with..

Izaru (thinking): The only six capable of interfering with the barrier were the people in this room.. So it’s still here.

Izaru: With all likelihood, the one responsible for this barrier collusion we’re facing right now. Because of that, our troops lay flat on ground with no access inside.

Ichiki (thinking): Another part of their preparation..?

Ichiki (thinking): The current Barrierkeeper has already been in servitude as the ‘vessel’, but in preparation for unforeseen circumstances, the tools for creating a successor had already been in place. Of course, strict security had been imposed but if its with Kasen’s guidance, it wouldn’t be difficult to create an identical replica and swap it out.

Ichiki: A patience game, was it..? Hakuri-kun, Kiri-chan. I’m afraid I’ll have to return to battle after all. The utmost importance is that we recapture the barrier, at once.

Ichiki: The emergence of another “host” changes the flow of the spiritual energy causing fluctuations in the circuits that generate this barrier. And because of that, the barrier’s parameters were modified. It now functions as a barrier designed to solely block out those two Enchanted Blades. But such a drastic measure, having two “hosts”, is causing the power to fluctuate and becoming unstable. Its effects are even reaching the headquarters and our radio-signals. Izaru: Which just means that they didn’t walk in here with some half-assed resolve, now did they..?
