T/L Note: The specific Japanese word Dabura uses is 霊体生物 (read as Reitai Seibutsu). He is using a broader, descriptive term rather than the specific Jujutsu Sorcery terminology. As far as I know this term is never used in the original JJK (which makes sense cause he’s an alien and approaching the power system with a different worldview).

T/L Note: I had this before as “rotation of the dharma wheel” but Dabura says 法陣 (houjin/magic wheel) not 法輪 (hourin/dharma wheel) whoops. He doesn’t know what the dharma wheel is.

NARRATOR: “The Zen’in Clan’s secret treasure.” “Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga.” “Its ability is…”

T/L Note: “Gote” (後手): The term comes from board games like Shogi or Go, referring to the player who moves second. In a combat context, it refers to a strategy where one acts after the opponent makes their move. This is not the same way it is described in Ch.118 in the original JJK as a “late rock-paper-scissors throw” but the idea is basically the same.

MARU: So this is a ‘Real Sword’…”

T/L Note: “Shinken” / 真剣 usually means a live steel sword as opposed to a practice one, but here it is just referring to Tsurugi’s name. I thought Maru calling Tsurugi a “real sword” would sound cooler since that is the meaning of the kanji in his name.

MARU: By completely casting aside Cursed Energy and Cursed Techniques…”

MARU: “…one gains immense physical capabilities…”

MARU: “A ‘Heavenly Restriction’ — Physically Gifted.”

MARU: “Indeed, now that we are actually fighting…regarding what I heard from Yuuka….the doubts are disappearing.”

MARU: How is this different from physical reinforcement using Cursed Energy?”

MARU: “(Because) One cannot read his movements from the flow of Cursed Energy.”

MARU: “This is troublesome…”

MARU: “Until I get used to it, every single attack feels like a surprise attack.”

MARU: “He utilizes the Cursed Energy of the Cursed Tool itself to wield Jujutsu.”

MARU: “I had assumed it was merely a support item for the Tsurugi—who possesses no Cursed Energy—but…”

MARU: “I see… Indeed…” “So this Cursed Tool… does not run out of Cursed Energy…!!”

MARU: “Of course, it likely depends on the grade of the Cursed Tool,” “but the pacing and resource management of a Jujutsu Fight is vastly different for Tsurugi compared to other sorcerers.”

T/L Note: Tsurugi basically diverts the CE imbued into the sword to use cursed techniques because he lacks cursed energy himself to fuel a technique. As far as why it cannot run out of CE, that’s Maru’s speculation so we don’t know if it’s true. I double-checked that he actually does say that. It might have some sort of regenerative mechanism or it might just have so much it seems nearly infinite.

TSURUGI: “It would be sufficient if just Dabura-san left.”

TSURUGI: “The effective range of a Cursed Technique likely does not span across planets—just like with his sister.”

TSURUGI: “If Dabura-san were to leave Earth, the ritual risking Yuuka’s life would effectively be nullified.”

TSURUGI: “However, Dabura will not return to Planet Shimuria.”

TSURUGI: “Because he himself is a requisite condition for the curse placed on his sister. And it is too dangerous for Dabura to return alone to the effective range of the Deskunte Chieftain’s Cursed Technique.”

MARU: “Perhaps if the curse were dispelled using that ‘Black Rope’ or whatever it’s called first… but I suppose there is no time for that, is there?”

TSURUGI: “………Maru. If I win, you leave Earth.”

TSURUGI: “Let’s make this that kind of duel.”
